Antique Marshal’s Badge

Marshal’s badges were worn by a Federal Marshal (who has authority to act from the US Government) or State and Local Marshals whose duties could range from criminal law enforcement to entirely civil duties. The Marshal’s badge identifies him to anyone interested. There are a wide range of badges from rough badges cut from tin cans to elaborately carved gold presentation badges. The value of a Marshal’s badge is based on its rarity, material, condition, and its provenance (if it can be determined who owned it and wore it)
